Hey, guys! Just wanted to stop by and leave a direct comment about the game apart from featuring it in my video. I really want to wish you guys success with this. I haven't had as much fun with a game like yours in a while. Since the demo didn't have that much waking world content, I look forward to seeing how interactions there affect the gameplay. You're doing great work. Keep it up and good luck!
holy shit, what the hell are you guys? This game is absolutely fantastic! It feels just great to play. very good work. and all the others here: please support this project in every possible way!
I thought this was something people haven't done yet, so here is me fighting the crap out of the boss. BOY! was this a good time :D
This was pretty cool but I wasn't prepared to get absolutely annihilated by one of the enemies lol
my part 2, loved it!
One of the best Roguelites I have played in recent times! All the best for the full release!
This game was one of the best I've ever played! Keep up the great work.
Helluuu! I did a little review that you probably already saw cause im posting it everywhere like an annoying little brother lol, still hope you enjoys it!
For a demo, Dreamscaper is very polished. If I didn't know any better, I would think this was already a small finished release.
Gameplay-wise, it's a nice take on the roguelite genre. The concept of the game is a great choice. Peering into the mind of a teenager dealing with depression, fighting her inner demons and mental issues in the dreamworld hits home to me personally. As someone who deals with depression, anxiety, and other mental issues, I used (and still use) video games and fantasy as a protection and therapy mechanism.
Graphically, I dig the style; simple, yet effective. The tutorial threw me off a bit, as I was not a fan of the pixellated 3D style. But, once the main game kicked in, I was sold. Keeping the main character faceless was a very good choice, if intentional, given the concept of the game.
The controls are fluid. The flashing combo multiplier mechanic is a mixed bag for me. For the ranged attacks, it makes perfect sense and plays wonderfully. On melee attacks, however, I never could get the hang of pulling it off.
The star of the game thus far is easily the soundtrack. Once I got past the intro, I was hit in the face with some of the best music I've heard playing games all year. It's a wise move releasing the OST as a Kickstarter perk. I seriously can't quit gushing over the music.
As of now, the only thing I've really got to complain about is that I had a softlock loading the second stage in the demo. After restarting the game, I had no further issues.
Superb job, and good luck with the rest of the Kickstarter campaign!
Thanks for playing the game, we're really glad you enjoyed it. Appreciate the constructive feedback as well!
With the new 0.6.10.1 update, I seem to have found a visual error, likely involved with the Decent Drencher, but possibly also specific to the Isolation fight, and maybe even specific to the spot Isolation was at when I was shooting at him. I don't really have a good way to describe to visual issue, so here's a link to a small video of it happening:And to Afterburner Studios and hungovercoder: if more info is needed for this, I will be happy to do my best to narrow down the issue and give the best details I can get
Thanks Hooded! We're looking into a fix - thank you.
No problem, glad to help the development process. Is there anywhere better to report future bugs instead of in the comments here?
Incase this helps, I have found that visual issue happening in other rooms that have more of a top down perspective (such as the puzzle room)
Looks nice. I'll give it a try.
FYI: The newest version (0.6.9.10) has substantial performance improvements if you were having issues running the game before.
"the program cant start because api-ms-crt-string-l1-1-0.dll is missing from your computer"
Already downloaded it a couple of times but still dosent work. I think your download file is incomplete.
Hey Chastifold - it appears you're missing a .dll from the Visual C++ Redistributable installation.
Please see the information on the following third-party page for a solution: http://stackoverflow.com/questions/33265663/api-ms-win-crt-runtime-l1-1-0-dll-is...
Let me know if you need assistance. Would love for you to try out the demo!
This is a proper Ue4 game ship tho... If your windows or OS isnt updated and drivers updated then you have something todo.
Steam will help by auto-installing the Visual C++ Redistributables for people but maybe I need to do something special for the Itch builds.
This game is honestly amazing. It only took me about 1 - 2 hours to complete everything currently in the game, but the randomization of each run keeps it fun for hour after hour. I would greatly recommend this game to anyone.
Thanks for the positive words! Really glad it was fun.
I don't currently have the money to, but when I do, and if the kickstarter is still going at that time, I will vertainly back the project. Thank you for the fantastic game and I look forward to updates!
Gave it a go...
This has really good quality. Like, really really good quality. I am actually jealous. Its rough but the base system is really polished and well made.
